Modular data center solutions

Release time:2022-06-18 15:59:26 source:

1、 Target user

It is applicable to innovative data centers with high single cabinet density and low pue.

2、 Application background

Today, with the rapid development of data volume and the roaring tide of the big data era, the expansion speed of each data center is amazing, which leads to the practical difficulties of it capacity planning in the construction of data centers. Building a highly adaptive and scalable data center has always been the direction of efforts of relevant manufacturers in the industry, and this effort has also promoted the first and second wave of changes in the data center: around 2003, while the first wave of Internet boom gradually returned to rationality, the enterprise level data center ushered in the first construction boom, and new technical concepts began to be introduced into the data center, which was efficient Reliability became the key word of data center construction during this period.

However, as time goes on, the traditional data center shows more and more bottlenecks in space, efficiency and energy consumption: tight space, low efficiency and high energy consumption. These characteristics make enterprises pay huge expenses for the traditional data center every year. Moreover, the data center is a long-term construction project. Once completed, users often find it difficult to transform and upgrade, which is tantamount to putting a golden handcuffs on enterprises.

Based on this market trend, the second wave of data center reform has emerged - the idea of modular data center has become popular. This way of organically integrating power supply, power distribution, refrigeration systems, cabinets, management and services, and realizing "growth while investment" to build a data center through a standardized modular architecture, is much easier to install and manage than traditional data centers, and is also more efficient and energy-saving, winning the trust of many enterprise customers.

3、 Scheme introduction

Modular data center is a data center that takes micro modules as an independent unit for factory prefabrication and rapid deployment. It can include multiple micro modules with different functions and powers to meet business needs.

Overall introduction to the micro module: the micro module includes power distribution, air conditioning, monitoring, cabinet and its structural system (including cabinet, supporting structural parts, ceiling, bridge and cold channel), as well as several functional units, which are prefabricated in the factory; The IT cabinet is placed in two rows. After the server is delivered to the shelves, the cold channel of the micro module is closed. All equipment can be flexibly assembled on site. Therefore, the micro module can be quickly deployed and put into use as an independent small data center. The external dimensions between different functional cabinet units (power distribution, air conditioning, etc.) in the micro module are standardized design, which is similar to the cabinet structure and is convenient for on-site rapid docking and installation; The cooling capacity distribution unit is similar to the cabinet structure, and the pipeline connected with the water-cooled air conditioner between columns in the module is arranged under the static floor.

Distribution system design: the external power required by the micro module is supplied by two low-voltage distribution systems at the same time. The internal power supply of the micro module is in the form of AC + high-voltage DC (or UPS) dual power supply, in which the AC side is the mains direct power supply, and the high-voltage DC side is powered by the HVDC rectifier cabinet (or UPS). During normal operation, each carries 50% of the it load, which can ensure the uninterrupted power supply of each system in case of abnormal power failure or flashover of any mains.

Air conditioning system design: inter train air conditioning is a new type of machine room air conditioning with the development of high-power servers. It adopts the horizontal air supply mode, which overcomes the shortcomings of insufficient cooling capacity, dehumidification operation, non energy saving, frequent hot spots and so on caused by the air supply under the traditional precision air conditioner. It has the advantages of automatic variable capacity operation, high return air temperature, short air path, full sensible heat operation, high heat exchange efficiency, and effective containment of hot spots.

4、 Modular data center

Monitoring system: the computer room environment monitoring system can centrally monitor the dynamic environment of the computer room site, including the computer room environment system (water leakage detection, temperature and humidity, smoke detection, camera, etc.), computer room equipment (power distribution system, DC distribution cabinet, air conditioning, intelligent PDU, etc.), security system (access control system, video monitoring, etc.), with perfect monitoring and control functions, and timely locate the fault location through the intuitive interface, Realize centralized monitoring of equipment in the computer room.

Cabinet and its structural system: in order to reduce the energy consumption of the data center and improve the cooling efficiency of the air conditioner, the modular data center adopts the closed cold (or hot) channel design. Design description is as follows:

1. closed cold channel products are composed of end doors, skylights, channel seals, monitoring accessories, etc.

2. the door panel assembly adopts double-sided sliding doors. The main frame is made of high-quality cold-rolled steel plate, which conforms to gb11253, and the surface is sprayed with plastic. The door leaf is equipped with tempered glass window. The tempered glass conforms to 3C certification, gb15763.2, and the thickness is not less than 4mm;

3. design fixed and turnover skylights to support the function of fire gas access. The skylight is a large-area light transmitting plate made of PMMA organic glass, with a light transmittance of not less than 90%, which can make full use of the lighting in the machine room. Acrylic board shall comply with gb/t7134, and the flame retardant grade shall not be lower than ul94-hb;

4. the turnover skylight shall be able to be linked with the monitoring system (such as fire alarm signal, temperature and humidity alarm signal, camera, etc.). In case of fire alarm, the overturned skylight shall be able to overturn and open; The turnover skylight is made of acrylic transparent material, which is simple and beautiful.

5. other components include cabinet bottom baffle, LED lighting strip, temperature and humidity sensor, audible and visual alarm, camera, etc. These accessories are directly installed in the closed cold channel products to play the role of sealing, lighting and monitoring.

6. led auxiliary lighting system is designed in the channel to ensure that the illumination of the machine room is not less than 500lux. The auxiliary lighting system is manually switched on.

7. design the closed channel product monitoring components to monitor the temperature, humidity, smoke and other environment in the channel. In addition to monitoring the cold channel environment, it can also access the third-party alarm signal for linkage with the open roof control box.

5、 Revenue and value

Traditional data centers have increasingly prominent bottlenecks in space, efficiency and energy consumption, such as tight storage space, low efficiency and high energy consumption. With the high energy cost, enterprises need to improve the utilization rate of the data center and reduce the energy consumption cost at the same time. At the same time, the deployment of the traditional data center is inflexible and the construction cycle is long, so it cannot be expanded according to the business needs. In addition, due to the limited room space and infrastructure, the traditional data center cannot expand at will. To remain competitive, enterprises must adopt more innovative and cost-effective methods to build, operate and maintain data centers to cope with complex IT environments.

Modular data centers can build enterprise data centers in almost any work environment in less time and at lower cost, and bring stable and reliable power, cooling, security and monitoring. Compared with traditional data centers, modular data centers can save up to 30% of costs and 50% of space.
